Insilicomed, Inc.

Insilicomed, Inc. (ISM) is a small company based in La Jolla, California. ISM delivers software and consultancy services for computational modelling of biomedical processes. The company was founded in 2000, as a commercial outlet for Continuity software, a program developed by the research group of Professor Andrew McCulloch at the University of California, San Diego. The partnership involved SI making an investment for 10% of the shares in ISM. The motivation for Simula to enter this agreement was twofold. First, it was seen as a good opportunity for Kalkulo to expand into a new area, which would make the company less dependent on the projects running with StatoilHydro on oil and gas exploration. Second, it is seen as a promising route-to-market for technology and software from the cardiac modelling activity in the SC department, which is one of the largest projects at Simula.
