Kirsten ten Tusscher is the Researcher of the Year
At Simula’s celebration of the Scientific Evaluation Thursday 12 November, Aslak Tveito presented the Research Award to Kirsten ten Tusscher for her excellent work in the field of scientific computing at Simula Research Laboratory during 2009.
The Simula Research Award is presented annually to honour excellent contributions to research undertaken at Simula that lead to new insight within the field of information technology.
“I very much appreciate the compliment of receiving the award and feel honored by it. I also appreciate the great freedom I have received from Simula in pursuing my own research directions”, said ten Tusscher in her speech. She is now moving back to the Netherlands where she is taking on a position as assistant professor with the Theoretical Biology and Bioinformatics Group at Utrecht University.
“I am very happy that that Simula has offered me a small part time position, so that even though I accepted a new job in the Netherlands, I do not have to say fully goodbye, but will remain a part of Simula,” said ten Tusscher.
