I joined Simula Research Laboratory in Oslo, Norway, on January 1, 2008. I held a full-time research position (Post Doc.) in the software engineering department of Simula Research Laboratory until July 10, 2009. From July 11 until December 31, 2009, I held a part-time research position (Adjunct Research Scientist) related to the BEST project of the software engineering department.
Currently, I hold a temporary part-time position (Adjunct Associate Professor) in the Global Infrastructures (GI) group of the informatics department at the University of Oslo.
From July 2005 until December 2007, I held positions as Assistant and Associate Professor in the Schulich School of Engineering at the University of Calgary, Canada. Until June 2005, I was group leader, project manager, and department head (since July 2001) with the Fraunhofer Institute for Experimental Software Engineering (IESE) in Kaiserslautern, Germany, project manager with Siemens Corporate Technology in Munich, Germany, and research staff member with the German Aerospace Research Establishment in Oberpfaffenhofen near Munich. I have more than 15 years of experience in conducting and leading national and international research and transfer projects with software industry, including organizations such as Bosch, DaimlerChrysler, Dräger, Ericsson, and Siemens.
My research interests include:
- Simulation-based software project management and process improvement
- Value-based and empirical software engineering
- Software requirements engineering
- Virtual laboratories for software engineering education, decision-support, and theory building
Since 2007, I am serving on the editorial board of SPIP (Software Process Improvement and Practice).
I recently served as the General Chair of ICSP 2009 (http://www.icsp-conferences.org/icsp2009/index.html), the International Conference on Software Process.
