Background:
Software tool and methodology providers make strong claims about the benefits of applying their products. The goal of this thesis is to examine to what degree these claims are supported by evidence.What you will do:
- Identify claims made by software engineering tool and methodology providers.
- Contact a selection of software engineering tool and methodology providers and request evidence of their claims.
- Examine and summarize the findings.
What you will learn:
- Principles of evidence based software engineering
- How software engineering tool and methodology providers sell their products.
- How to conduct a survey.
The results of this master thesis are likely to be of high interest to the software research community and the industry. Publication of results in scientific and other media should therefore be a goal.
