2023 Simula Summer Internships - apply now!

Published:

Applications for the 2023 summer internships at Simula are now open. A summer internship is a great way to kick off your research career or to spruce up your resume while contributing to cutting edge research. Apply before 13 November 2022.

Curious about how we can use informatics to build a computational model of the heart? How the technology behind the internet works? How to analyse large amounts of data? Or how to construct software that is safe and reliable enough to use in hospitals and on space shuttles? Would you like to work with a highly competent and motivated team of international researchers? Then we at Simula would like to hear from you!

Simula is a publicly owned ICT research lab. Our main objective is to reach new levels of understanding and to create important knowledge about fundamental scientific challenges that are of genuine value to society.

Summer internships at Simula:

These 6-week, paid intern positions take place during the period from mid-June to mid-August 2023. Interns are supervised by Simula researchers and embedded into the departments at our research units in either Oslo (Simula Research Laboratory and Simula Metropolitan) or Bergen (Simula UiB). In addition, a variety of activities are organised for the interns, including training courses, networking events, social outings and, of course, free coffee and snacks.

Internships are available in all five of our focus research areas (you can apply for up to two areas). See our previous summer internship projects here.

We are looking for students that:

  • Are currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in mathematics, physics, data science or informatics, or other specialisations in technology
  • Are curious and interested in research, and enjoy working on challenging problems, both independently and in teams
  • Have strong academic results
  • Are proficient in English (both spoken and written)

Note: Due to short-term employment, applicants must already be permitted to work in Norway, i.e. not requiring new visa processing.
