New book in the SpringerBriefs series: Computational Physiology - Simula Summer School 2022 - Student Reports

Published:

The newest volume of the Simula SpringerBriefs on Computing is now available for download. This open access book collects the student output of the 2022 Simula Summer School in Computational Physiology – short reports on research questions and available modeling tools for various topics in subcellular and tissue-level physiology.

The Simula SpringerBriefs on Computing aims to provide introductions to select areas of research in computing. Each volume aims to give an entry to research fields that can otherwise be inaccessible. This is the 13th volume in this series.

Computational Physiology: Simula Summer School 2022 − Student Reports edited by Kimberly J. McCabe is now available for download. Interested readers will find a number of modern approaches to modeling excitable tissue, which should provide an overview of several tools available to model subcellular and tissue-level physiology across scales and scientific questions. This volume compiles seven student reports from the 2022 Simula Summer School in Computational Physiology, each as a separate chapter. The fields represented include electrophysiology, pharmacology, electromechanics, fluid mechanics, cardiac calcium handling and mechanics, and machine learning.

About the editor

Kimberly J. McCabe is a Research Scientist at Simula Research Laboratory and the program director for SUURPh (the Simula UiO UCSD Research and PhD training program), the program that organizes the Simula Summer School. Her current research is focused on subcellular modeling of cardiac mechanics and calcium handling, which she conducts primarily in collaboration with partners at the University of California, San Diego.

SpringerSeries

The Simula SpringerBriefs on Computing aims to provide introductions to select research in computing. The series presents both a state-of-the-art disciplinary overview and raises essential critical questions in the field. Published by SpringerOpen, all Simula SpringerBriefs on Computing is open access, allowing for faster sharing and wider dissemination of knowledge.
