Norwegian mobile broadband - seventh annual report from CRNA
"This year's report shows that the positive development in the experienced stability of mobile broadband networks, which we reported the last few years, has continued in 2019", says Ahmed Elmokashfi, responsible for the report. A third of Telia subscriptions did not have a single day with a service outage longer than one minute. About 10% of Telenor and ICE subscriptions experienced the same.
We report for the first time on speed onboard regional and intercity trains. Download and upload speed onboard trains are comparable to the speed measured in stationary settings albeit less stable. New this year is measurements of NB-IoT, the mobile standard for machine-to-machine (M2M) communication between low power devices that are supposed to run for years on button cells. We find that the choice of M2M hardware plays a more important role than the choice of the network operator as far as energy consumption is concerned.
