Simula sponsors Abel finalists in the International Math Olympiad

Niels Henrik Abel's mathematical competition challenges students in the Norwegian school system to practice mathematical problem-solving. The finalists from the competition will compete internationally in the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO). This year, Simula will sponsor the accommodation of the participants that qualify for the international olympiad.

The International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) is the world championship mathematics competition for high school students and has been held annually since 1959. More than 100 countries compete in the olympad, which will this year take place in Romania, July 03-14 2018.

The finalists of the Abel competition were at a tour of Simula yesterday, where they were introduced to the numerical research at Simula by Director of the Simula School Marianne Aasen, and Advisor Elin Backe Christophersen.
