MICROCARD-2
The work from MICROCARD will continue as a "Centre of Excellence" with the funding of the MICROCARD-2 project under the Centres of Excellence for Exascale HPC Applications call HORIZON-EUROHPC-JU-2023-COE-03.
The partners will continue to build on the project results and test the software on actual exascale supercomputers, which are just arriving in Europe.
Simula’s role in this project is to contribute with its expertise in cell-based modeling and high-performance computing of cardiac electrophysiology. Together with the other partners, Simula will develop more efficient numerical strategies and the corresponding software implementations needed for huge-scale simulations. Simula will also contribute to establishing new benchmarks relevant for testing the important numerical components, as well as disseminating the cutting-edge research results through the annual summer school in computational physiology organized by Simula.
The project is continued with support from the European High Performance Computing Joint Undertaking (EuroHPC JU), an initiative set up to develop a world-class supercomputing ecosystem in Europe.
Funding
The work continues in a new Centre of Excellence, MICROCARD-2, with funding provided by 50% from the EU (through EuroHPC JU) and the Research Council of Norway.
