Simula hosts research centres in artificial intelligence, quantum technology, resilient networks and effective digitalisation.

Centre for Sustainable, Risk-Averse and Ethical AI (SURE-AI)
A national research centre focused on improving the fundamental technology behind AI, aligned with national priorities for creating economic and societal value. Funded by the Research Council of Norway.

Centre for Quantum Communication Networks and Applications (QCNA)
A national research centre in quantum communications that, among other things, will build Norway's first quantum test network. Funded by the Research Council of Norway.

Norwegian Quantum Software Centre (NorQSoft)
A national research centre developing tools to create reliable algorithms to run on quantum computers. Funded by the Research Council of Norway

Centre for Resilient Networks and Applications (CRNA)
Theoretical and empirical research on the robustness and security of ICT infrastructures. Monitors the Norwegian broadband network. Funded by the Ministry of Digitalisation and Public Governance and hosted at SimulaMet.

Centre for Effective Digitalisation of Public Sector (EDOS)
Emperical research on the technical, organisational, and societal aspects of digitalisation in public sector. Funded by the Ministry of Digitalisation and Public Governance and hosted at SimulaMet.

Centre for AI Security and Safety
Established in 2026 to develop knowledge, expertise, methods, and tools that contribute to secure implementation and regulation of artificial intelligence.

K.G. Jebsen Centre for Brain Fluid Research
The centre is funded by the K.G. Jebsen Foundation and aims to develop tools for precision diagnosis of dementia, provide more personalized treatment for brain cancer and gain more knowledge about the brain's cleaning system.
UiO is the host institution. Simula is a partner with Chief Research Scientist Marie E. Rognes is its Deputy Director.
ProCardio Center for Innovation
A Centre for Research-based innovation funded by the Research Council of Norway. The focus is on advancing the field of cardiovascular medicine.
Hosted by Oslo University Hospital. Simula is a research partner.
MishMash Centre for AI and Creativity
A national AI research centre funded by the Research Council of Norway. Creates, explores, and reflects on AI for, through, and in creative practices.
The centre is hosted by the University of Oslo (UiO). SimulaMet is a national academic research partner.
AID: AI for Decisions
A national AI research centre funded by the Research Council of Norway. Combines AI techniques to interpret sensor data from physical processes in industry and critical infrastructure, and explores how AI can be used for decision support.
NTNU is the host institution. SimulaMet is a national academic research partner.
Centre for Quantum Computing and Applications (QSTAR)
A national AI research centre funded by the Research Council of Norway. Developing the new error correction methods, algorithms, and software necessary to make quantum computers reliable and practical.
The centre is hosted by SINTEF, Simula is a national academic research partner.

Gemini Center on Quantum Computing
Founded by NTNU, University of Oslo, and SINTEF. The center works to coordinate quantum research across Norway and to strengthen Norway’s position as a leading contributor to future quantum technologies.
