NorPQC - Supporting Norwayʼs Transition to Post-Quantum Cryptography
The arrival of quantum computers poses a significant threat to the cryptographic standards that currently secure our digital world. Within the next 5 to 10 years, migrating to post-quantum cryptography (PQC) will become mandatory to protect against this emerging risk. The NorPQC project is a joint initiative designed to guide Norwegian organisations through this complex transition. By providing targeted training and strategic guidance, NorPQC aims to equip IT professionals with the knowledge and tools necessary to develop and execute a successful PQC migration plan.
Research and activities
The core objective of NorPQC is to empower Norwegian organisations to begin the PQC migration process and develop a comprehensive strategy for its completion. To achieve this, the project will focus on direct engagement with IT professionals responsible for implementing this transition within their organisations.
The primary activity of the project is a series of free, one-day workshops. These workshops are designed to provide practical training and cover essential topics, including:
- Risk Assessment: Evaluating the vulnerability of your organisation's data in light of the threat from quantum computers.
- Cryptography Discovery: How to map and create an inventory of all cryptographic algorithms currently in use across your IT systems.
- PQC Selection: Guidance on selecting the appropriate PQC standards to replace vulnerable cryptography.
- Migration Planning: Creating a strategic plan for executing the replacement of cryptographic systems with minimal disruption to daily operations.
Workshops
How to get started on the PQC migration
NorPQC will host three identical one-day workshops. The content will be the same for all three events, so you only need to sign up for one. The workshops are free to attend.
Registration will open in August 2025. (more information)
