Published:

On May 24, Issam Maarouf successfully defended his thesis titled, "Coding for DNA-based Storage Systems".

The defence took place at Høyteknologisenteret in Bergen from 10.00.

Thesis summary

Storing user data in DNA strands is an exciting and new technology. Many researchers from different fields are studying this problem. The research aims to make DNA storage technology the standard everywhere. DNA storage provides more storage capacity and can last longer than current existing technologies. However, the process of storing user data is not perfect. Errors will happen. So, we need this storage system to have error correction techniques to overcome these errors. In this thesis, we manage to design such a system, bringing DNA storage closer to reality. Hopefully, the results of this thesis will make DNA storage more practical
