Only SINTEF has received more funding from EU than Simula among the non-university research institutes

In June, the Research Council of Norway published an overview of how much funding Norway has been awarded from the EU's Horizon 2020 scheme, including recipients from academia, business and public administration in Norway. Simula Research Laboratory comes in as number eight, having received 13,4 million Euro since 2014. Among the non-university research institutes, only SINTEF have received more funding than Simula.

These efforts have paid off handsomely resulting in several new strategic partnerships in Europe. As always, SINTEF is doing brilliantly in EU and we congratulate them with their impressive achievements", says Professor Aslak Tveito, CEO Simula Research Laboratory.

Combined, Norway has brought home around 11 billion Euros altogether.

Horizon 2020 is the EU's most extensive Research and Innovation program so far, with nearly €80 billion of funding available over seven years (2014 to 2020). By coupling research and innovation, Horizon 2020 is helping to achieve this by emphasizing excellent science, industrial leadership and tackling societal challenges. The goal is to ensure Europe produces world-class science, removes barriers to innovation and makes it easier for the public and private sectors to work together in delivering innovation.
