Report from NIFU: Strong publications from Simula

Simula Research Laboratory is cited 39 percent above the world average within ICT research, is the main finding of a recently published report from the Nordic Institute for Studies in Innovation, Research and Education (NIFU). This is a marked progress since 2012, when Simula was cited 14 percent above the world average.

As Simula will be evaluated during 2016, NIFU was commissioned to conduct a bibliometric analysis of the publications of Simula during 2009-2015. The results from the current report can be compared to the national evaluation from 2012 of all the ICT research groups of Norway. Simula demonstrates progress in all aspects of biblimetry.

  • Simula published about 175 articles in acknowledged channels during 2009-2015, compared to 85 articles annually during 2006-2010. In addition, many researchers of Simula publishes in other channels, including publications of patents, standards, as well as important conference proceedings.
  • Simula is cited 39 percent above the normalised world average within the ICT research field 2009-2013, compared to 14 percent above during 2006-2010.
  • Simula is cited 14 percent above the Norwegian average, while it was 2 percent above in the 2012 investigation.
  • About 69 percent of our publications are in collaboration with international partners, compared to 55-60 percent for Norway as a whole.
