Strengthening industry-research collaboration through the merger of Simula Consulting

Since its establishment in 2019, with the mission to bridge the gap between research and industry, Simula Consulting has built an excellent team and a strong portfolio. In order to utilise the competences of the Simula Consulting team in a wider context, the company will now be merged with Simula Research Laboratory under the new Department of Applied AI. 

"This merger represents a step forward in our mission to make deep tech competence from Simula's research groups more accessible to industry, “ says Lillian Røstad, CEO of SRL. “By integrating Simula Consulting more closely with our research units, we aim to foster stronger collaboration and drive innovation at the intersection of academic research and real-world applications."

The entire Simula Consulting team will transition to the new Department of Applied AI, ensuring continuity in daily operations and client relationships. This organisational change will create a dynamic flow of knowledge, allowing Simula’s research units to gain new insights from real-world industry applications while enabling the Applied AI team to deepen its innovative capabilities through closer collaboration with Simula’s researchers.

The Director of Simula Consulting, Holger Hussmann, will continue leading the team as it becomes the Department of Applied AI. In addition, he will assume the role of Director of Industry Relations, fostering deeper collaborations between the Simula Group and industry partners, broadening our impact and engagement with external stakeholders.

“Becoming an integral part of SRL will allow us to more effectively leverage the full spectrum of Simula’s research expertise in our applied projects while maintaining our focus on delivering innovative solutions and contract research to industry partners”, says Hussmann.
